I am happy to provide information on the exciting music therapy advancements happening in this region. Training opportunities are increasing slowly, to the benefit of aspiring music therapists. While there are two international programs running in India already, one-year Postgraduate Diplomas offered by Chennai School of Music Therapy and the Music Therapy Trust, and another training program offered by the Universitas Pelita Harapan Conservatory of Music in Indonesia, there is yet another grand opportunity opening up in Thailand. The first Master’s degree program in Music Therapy in Southeast Asia is announced by the Mahidol University College of Music in close collaboration with the University of Kansas, USA. The course opens June 2013. Aspiring music therapists, grab these opportunities!

Also, I advise the present batch of music therapy students in this region and the students who are registered for the training program during the year 2013 -2014 to make use of the scholarship opportunities announced by WFMT for the World Congress by applying for the same. The details are announced already in the website, and the last date for applying is May 31, 2013. Please feel free to get in touch with me (southeastasia@wfmt.info), or the WFMT Student Delegate for Southeast Asia (southeastasia.student@wfmt.info), on any clarifications you need.

I also invite students, researchers, teachers, and the other allied health care professionals in Southeast Asia to explore the possibilities of attending the conference and presenting their research in the upcoming conference as the abstract submission deadline closes in August 2013.

Please enjoy the newsletter released by Chennai School of Music Therapy for the year 2012-2013.
