Hello everyone,

It is a proud moment for me as an Asian and also a great pleasure to share with you all the pleasant and the exciting memories of the first time World Congress of Music Therapy hold in Asia in Seoul, Korea between July 5-9, 2011.

There were also many memorable and appreciable ‘firsts’ apart from being the first time World Congress in Asia. The record number of 1347 Congress attendees, the lowest registration fee of USD 200 charged for the participants, four CMTE approved Pre-Congress Seminars, the 4 spotlight sessions featuring 16 renowned speakers from the WFMT eight regions, the World Congress Scholarship for Students, the show casing of the rich Korean culture by featuring traditional music and dance groups in the opening and closing session, the social programs organized for all the attendees, the amazingly organized group photo session of all the participants and gifting the group photo postcard and a DVD of the congress proceedings to all the attendees brought a new perspective to the World Congress.

I am sure the Asians who attended the World Congress for the first time will never forget this event and those who were habituated to attending the World Congresses will have their new bench mark set for World Congresses in the years to come. The taking ins for all the participants not only from the scientific program but also by the social programs were immense.

I heartily congratulate all the dedicated Korean organizing committee members, the WFMT Council, the members of the International Scientific Committee and the Public Relations Committee for this most successfully organized event. Three Cheers to all the Koreans for this success.

Dr. Sumathy Sundar
