It has been an exciting year with an inspiring World Music Therapy Day on 1st March, where so many WFMT members and potential members contributed though events shared on social media. There has been much activity from our Assembly of Student Delegates which you can read about on our website and Council members were pleased to meet recently here in Barcelona (or via the internet).
Here is the beautiful logo for the World Congress of Music Therapy, July 6th - 11th 2020. This will be held at the University of Pretoria in partnership with the South African Music Therapy Association.
Updated Information and News
The first half of the year 2018 has kept WFMT Council members busy making progress to meet goals and objectives set for the 2017-2018 year. In addition, Commissioners, Regional Liaisons and student delegates have been regularly posting news on their work and their regions on the website.
I want to continue encouraging you to check out the rest of this website and if you run a music therapy association, you may want to share www.wfmt.info with your professional and student members. We have changes planned for the website, to make navigation easier and have already added a security certificate to the site to improve safety. Many thanks to our Secretary Dr. Anita Swanson for her work on the website along with Executive Assistant, Kumi Sato and volunteer, Hsiao-Jung Yeh.
WFMT Membership
The WFMT is ineffective without a strong membership. The WFMT council has worked hard to come up with new incentives to make membership attractive for individuals and professional associations. It is our objective to support our members in making your voice heard. Annual Report
The 2017-2018 Annual Report has now been uploaded to the WFMT website. I recommend you make some time to read in detail all the tasks and achievements of our Executive team, Commissioners and Regional Liaisons. I want to thank each of the Council members as well as members of the different Commissions for their involvement and hard work to contribute to the development of our profession.

WFMT Publications: Music Therapy Today (MTT)
Please find the new 2018 issue of MTT on our website and click to read it. Members of the Publications Commission, led by Dr. Annie Heiderscheit have been working hard to prepare the 2018 issue and are already working on the 2019 issue which is planned to be devoted to “Music therapy and trauma”. If you consider submitting a paper for the 2019 issue, you will find guidelines here.
WFMT on Social Media
Our Facebook Group membership is growing every day. Since I last wrote to you in April, we have more than 160 new members bringing the total to over 5,789. We also have a Facebook page and Twitter account (@WFMTinfo) so do get involved and help to spread the word about music therapy.
