Greetings from sunny South Africa! In exciting recent developments, the Association for Professional Music Therapists of South Africa (APMTSA), which has been inactive for the past few years, has been ‘resurrected’ and renamed. SAMTA (South African Music Therapy Association) had its first meeting in December 2012, and the team is eager to keep the momentum going and to serve as a source of support to all registered Music Therapists in South Africa. Congratulations to Ilse Tiran who was appointed as chairperson of SAMTA. More news will follow soon on SAMTA’s new website which the team hopes to have running early in the New Year.

I would like to extend a special invitation to music therapists working in other parts of Africa to make contact with me. I am eager to hear news of any music therapy projects in other parts of Africa and would like to include that information in updates on this blog.
