I can’t believe it has been almost one year since the new WFMT Council members were elected and began their 3-year term. This year, one of the main priorities for myself as President, and for the other WFMT Council members, has been rolling out our 3-year Strategic Plan and identifying the priorities for each year – in addition to celebrating 30 years of the WFMT. #WFMT30Rocks! To learn more about our strategic planning process, several WFMT officers are preparing a paper for the Special 30th Anniversary WFMT edition of the journal to be released in Fall 2015.Today I want to highlight the WFMT accomplishments from July 2014-June 2015. - July 2014
- WFMT Council presented and held annual Council meeting, WFMT roundtable, General
- Business Meeting, & 2014-2017 WFMT Council elections at the WCMT (Krems, Austria)
- August 2014
- The new WFMT website was launched & updates provided monthly (www.wfmt.info)
- WFMT Council members provided preliminary plans and projects for the 2014-2017 term
- New monthly WFMT Buzz emails initiated
- September 2014
- Strategic Planning year one priorities identified & respective projects commenced
- October 2014
- Online journal, Music Therapy Today (MTT), announced Spring 2015 edition call for papers
- Global Crises Intervention Disaster Fund highlighted & continued collection of donations
- November 2014
- Dr. Heiderscheit, Dr. Gadberry, and Ms. Fienman presented at the Global Perspectives
- Session at the American Music Therapy Association conference in Louisville, Kentucky
- Quarterly online Council meeting
- December 2014
- Committee established to plan and launch 30th Anniversary celebrations
- Regional Liaisons held online meeting
- January 2015
- MTT call for papers closed; peer review process well underway and editing began
- 30th Anniversary celebration events began
- February 2015
- Treasured Memories project launched (30th Anniversary)
- March 2015
- Press release prepared and sent to community stakeholders in WFMT’s 8 global regions
- Council members presented on WFMT at various regional and local conferences
- Quarterly online Council meeting
- Song contest launched (30th Anniversary)
- April 2015
- Dr. Clements-Cortes represented the WFMT and presented at the International
- Conference of Music Therapy, Training in Music Therapy in Europe, in Pescara, Italy
- May 2015
- 2017 WCMT website launched
- June 2015
- MTT 2015 Spring edition published on WFMT website
- Quarterly online Council meeting
- Dr. Clements-Cortes inaugurated the International Conference on Current Trends in Music Therapy in Pondicherry, India via online technology from Canada
