Started in 2008, the Lifetime Membership Award honors an individual nominated and voted upon by Council who is deemed to have made significant contributions to the field of music therapy. In 2014, additional awards were incorporated to develop the WFMT Recognition Program (click button below to learn more). In 2017, the award was renamed to the Lifetime Achievement Award to clarify the significance of the honor. Lifetime Achievement Award recipients enjoy honorary life membership in the WFMT.
Born in Buenos Aires in the year 1939, Prof. Dr. Benenzon is the leading figure in the field of Music Therapy, in the professional training and its application in autism, in patients under coma and Alzheimer. He studied Psychiatry at the Medical School of Buenos Aires. He also studied Psychoanalysis and psycho-dramatic techniques. Additionally, he is both a musician and a composer.
Dr. Clive Robins graduated with a BS in Experimental Psychology from the University of Sussex in England before coming to the United States to attend graduate school at Stanford University and the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where he completed the PhD in Clinical Psychology.
